  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients on your counter.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, ground ginger, and onion powder.
  4. Place chicken breasts in the crockpot and pour the sauce over them evenly.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  6. About 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch with cold water until smooth and stir into the crockpot to thicken the sauce.
  7. Shred the cooked chicken in the crockpot with two forks, stir well, and serve hot over rice or noodles topped with green onions.
