- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Slice sweet potatoes into uniform rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
- Layer half of the sweet potato slices in the greased dish, seasoning with salt, pepper, and half the garlic. Repeat with remaining potatoes.
- In a bowl, mix heavy cream and nutmeg; pour over the layered potatoes.
- Top generously with both cheeses.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
