  • 2 tbsp lemon zest (freshly grated)
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (fresh)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Gradually mix in flour, softened butter, and eggs until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for approximately 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. While the dough rises, prepare the filling by mixing softened butter with sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until creamy.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly over it, then roll tightly from one end to another.
  7. Slice the rolled dough into equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Allow to rise again for about 30 minutes.
